OMD is all excited on Facebook that "Enola Gay" is going to be used in the Olympic Opening Ceremonies. Hope to heck it's not the background music for the entry of the Japanese team.

They played "God Save the Queen" by the Sex Pistols. Literally...just the song intro and the first line of the first verse: "God save the Queen." Ended the song right there, 22 seconds in. After hearing the first 4 seconds of the song I KNEW it was going to end before the second line of the first verse.

Apparently the song was edited in Room 101 by a Mr. O'Brien.

I forgot to note that "Satisfaction" by the Rolling Stones and "London Calling" by The Clash were similarly lobotomized to ensure impertinent lyric bits would not contaminate the bucolic pastoral gaiety and frolic of the opening ceremonies.
