I won free tickets to see Darryl Hall. Is this worth braving the cold, driving into the city, paying for parking and $10 beers for? I do love me some Hall and Oates, but...solo? hmmmm

Might be if he has his Flight Of The Conchords mates with him.

If the Live From Daryl's House series is any indication, Hall & Oates material is still at the heart of his sets. That said, he does have a new solo album out.

I'd go, if presented with the opportunity. The man can still sing.

What about Oates? Does he ever do any solo gigs?

...

I wouldn't go. Just curious.

Agree with Michael T. If you like Hall & Oates, just go. And provide a report!

Doesn't he live somewhere in the Berkshires?

I'd definitely go. Maybe Robert Fripp will show up.

That's some weird synchronicity - I never think about Hall and Oates, but I just got the new Emm Gryner EP by mail, which is a Hall and Oates tribute. Four H&O songs plus three originals. I don't even recognize the originals, except vaguely "Method of Modern Love."

i saw them recently. they were very good. better when they did their older more soulful stuff rather then the 80s period that sounds really dated.
they covered a mike olfield song {the exorcist} called family man which i always loved.
i think i read somewhere that john oats did p;lay some solo sets.
i dont think he did lead vocals on any songs but im probably wrong

I saw them in 85 (Big Bam Boom tour) and Oates sang "Possession Obsession"

Oates shares vocal duties with Brit neo-soul also-ran Jamie Cullum on Handsome Boy Modeling School's "Greatest Mistake":

Not bad.

Thanks for the input, y'all. Sharon Jones is opening. Does this sweeten the pot?

I may have to miss anyway for a little league coaches meeting. grrrrr.....

Sharon Jones is amazing live, so that should definitely sweeten the pot. She'll probably blow Hall off the stage, frankly.
