 Concert Partner Frustration
Author: Nile

I see that Reverend Horton Heat is coming to San Diego in July but I can't get any of my friends interested in joining me. Argh. Philistines!

I really hate going to rowdy clubs full of liquored-up morons without a wingman.

For some reason I read that as "rowdy clubs full of liquored-up moms."

Never let the lack of a wingman discourage you, Nile. Especially if said wingman doesn't seem enthusiastic about the gig in the first place. I've found that guys like that can end up dragging the evening down, waiting for the last encore so they can go home. Who needs 'em.

I can't imagine any of the guys I'd invite wouldn't enjoy the seeing The Rev in concert. It's just that they seem to have become stick-in-the-mud, stay at home & save the money sorts. They're now like vast, static pools of inertia, the human equivalent of dark matter.

I guess I'll just have to solo it, wear the leather jacket and stay alert. Heck, I just want to have some fun and enjoy some good music before I wake up one morning to see Keith Richards peering back at me in my bathroom mirror. *shiver*

There's nothing wrong with going solo, Nile. My best concert buddies have moved off to disparate parts of the globe. The wife is generally willing, but that depends upon the babysitter--and if I think it's something she'd enjoy. She tends to have less catholic tastes than I. . .
