I'm listening to Roxy Music's Flesh and Blood this morning for the first time since well before 1991, I guess, because I'd forgotten all about what the title track sounded like but as soon as I heard its guitar riff I immediately thought "Wow...the riff on 'Black or White' by Michael Jackson sure sounds an awful lot like that."
Was that ever commented on at the time when "Black or White" came out? I did a quick web search and didn't come up with anything.
Or maybe I'm just over-imagining the similarity between the riffs on both songs? They're not exactly identical or anything, but "Black or White" sure does sound like a not-too-distant echo of "Flesh and Blood" to my ears, anyhow. It sounds like "Black or White" is to "Flesh and Blood" what "Mr. Soul" is to "Satisfaction."
