I don't know 'em personally, but I do have For the Whole World to See and saw the survivors play at Fun Fun Fun Fest a couple of years ago.
I wouldn't call them punk, frankly. But they were a good 70s-style hard rock band, more MC5 than Foghat.

Def more proto then actual, as you said.
A heavy curiosity, though.
why they weren't bandied in the days of Living Colour, Bad Brains is also curious

Too obscure - these recordings went unreleased until long after those bands' heyday. And they spent a lot of time as Christian rockers and a reggae band, which probably put them even further off the radar.
